Seen and Unseen

Not everything is meant to be obvious.

Some things are seen.

Others are understood.

And some are only ever recognised

by those who already know what they’re looking for.

Visibility is simple.

It asks nothing.

It requires no context.

To be seen is easy.

Recognition is different.

It depends on something shared -

an awareness, a familiarity,

a way of reading what isn’t explained.

The kind of understanding

that exists without permission.

Jewellery sits between those two states.

It can be visible.

A surface detail.

Something that catches the light

and asks to be noticed.

Or it can remain quieter.

Close to the body.

Deliberate.

Present, but not offered.
